A Message From The

Health Director

Services provided by the Beaufort County Health Department directly impact everyone in the county by helping to prevent communicable and chronic health problems.

The North Carolina General Statute 130A-1.1 states all citizens in North Carolina should have equal access to Essential Public Health Services.

The Ten Essential Public Health Services

  1. Identify and investigate health problems.

  2. Inform and educate North Carolinians about health issues.

  3. Organize community partnerships to solve health problems.

  4. Develop policies and plans that support health programs.

  5. Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and safety.

  6. Connect North Carolinians to needed health services.

  7. Ensure a competent health care workforce.

  8. Measure the effectiveness of quality of health services.

  9. Identify new solutions to health problems.

  10. Monitor the Health of North Carolinians.

All Health Departments in North Carolina will be going through an accreditation process in the next couple of years to ensure these Essential Public Health Services are being addressed.

Our staff strives to provide professional, courteous services to our community to help ensure essential public health services while promoting the highest level of health possible.  Some of the listed essential services are provided by others in the community.  However, if a health need is not being met, as determined through our community diagnosis, we will try to find a way to have the service implemented somewhere in our community, or to provide it through the Health Department.

Please take a moment to look at our pages that describe our services.

Beaufort County Health Director

For safety and security reasons, only clients receiving services will be allowed to go into the clinic area.  Children will be seen one at a time.  Therefore, clients must bring someone of an appropriate age and maturity to help so their children will be supervised at all times.
