Women, Infants, and Children Supplemental Nutrition (WIC)

WIC is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding until the baby is 12 months old or had a baby in the past 6 months, infants and children up to 5 years old.  WIC offers healthy foods, nutrition information, breastfeeding education and counseling and referrals to other resources.

Program eligibility is based on having a health or nutritional risk and meeting WIC income guidelines.  All kinds of families qualify for WIC.  You might be working, a student, single or married or live with your parents.  If your family receives Work First Family Assistance or Food Stamps, or the individual receives Medicaid you already meet the income guidelines.

To apply for WIC call (252) 946-9705 to schedule and appointment.  You will be told what you need to bring to this appointment for proof of ID, income and residency.

For safety and security reasons, only clients receiving services will be allowed to go into the clinic area.  Children will be seen one at a time.  Therefore, clients must bring someone of an appropriate age and maturity to help so their children will be supervised at all times.
